Welcome to the 2025 UD-ISCTE Bloomberg and Trading Program. Bem vindo em nossa universidade!
Dear UD-ISCTE Program Students,
We are really pleased and excited that you will be joining us for the June 2025 Bloomberg and Trading Program at the Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware (UD). This note is to welcome you and give you a high-level overview of the program. Your faculty at ISCTE will provide details about travel, and you will receive more details from us as time goes on. Look at this website frequently. New info will generally be highlighed as an Announcement on the main page.
To introduce myself: I am Professor Paul Laux, the Director of our Program. I am a Professor of Finance in the UD Finance Department, and also JPMorgan Chase Faculty Fellow in the Institute for Financial Services Analytics. In the Department, I work on empirical finance research and teach at the undergraduate and masters levels. In the Institute, I work in a Ph.D. program for data science and machine learning to solve problems of the financial services industry.
In most years since about 2011, I have been pleased to be the director of the visiting programs from ISCTE. I've twice had the privilege of being a Fulbright professor at ISCTE, and I had an appointment as Professor Catedrático Convidado at ISCTE in the 2010's for a number of years. I've also been a Visiting Professor at Nova. I was able to visit ISCTE briefly during Summer 2022 and 2023, and I was also in Portugal for work in early 2024 and pleasure in late 2024. You have a wonderful country.
A tentative overview-style schedule for the academic sessions is posted on the Schedule page of the Program's website (ud-iscte-program.com). Please have a look. A more detailed timeslot-style schedule will be posted as the program dates near. You should plan on having some reading and homework to do for the Program in the evenings, though the evening work will not be an excessive time commitment in general.
Please watch for lots more information and details. Also please feel free to ask us questions---we want you to be well informed and comfortable.
We are really excited that you are coming to visit us. In past years, this Program has been very helpful to some students with starting their careers, and I think everyone has enjoyed it. See you soon!
Professor Paul Laux
